The River Bluff Gators will take the field this year for their first "full" year of Varsity competition. Leading the way will be junior quarterback Brandon Tillman, whom we've been watching since his freshman year at White Knoll High School.
The 6-2, 215lbs player starred at White Knoll during his freshman season as an "A-back" in the double wing attack that former Timberwolves coach Gordan Walters ran. This past season, he started at quarterback for the Gators in a partially JV/Partial Varsity schedule and rushed for 524 yards on 66 carries for 11 touchdowns, and was 18 of 42 for 193 yards and two touchdowns. He also played on the defensive side of the football for the Gators, collecting 11 tackles in 5 games.
Tillman, a two-sport star (baseball) runs a 4.49 40 yard dash and a 4.37 shuttle. He's got a strong body and is still growing and I feel like he projects at a safety and possibly even a linebacker at the next level. His father was a two sport star at Newberry College and is on staff at River Bluff, as well.
