DAQUAN BOWERS
Defensive End, Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School
Class of 2008
Bowers was what many refer to as a "freak" in the high school football community. I can remember him coming to the All State Football Combine and no one could match him in the one-on-one's as he made would be blockers look silly. He was the No. 1 ranked defensive end in the country his senior year, a five-start prospect in the Rivals.com rankings, and the No. 2 overall player in the country by Rivals.com. His senior year, playing DE and RB, he had 97 tackles, 33 tackles for loss and 14 sacks on defense, whilst on offense he rushed for 1,219 yards and scored 19 touchdowns, he caught 2 touchdown passes, he averaged 40 yards per kickoff return and also blocked 7 kicks. He was a impact player for the Clemson Tigers. Following the 2010 season, he was a first-team All-ACC selection, and was recognized as a unanimous first-team All-American. He was also honored as the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and was the recipient of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. He was selected in the 2nd round (51st overall pick) of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he is still active.
