All-state selection Reed Morrissey gave Wren's defense a huge boost in the 2019 season after transferring from JL Mann.

The Upstate product turned in a stellar season, tallying 123 tackles with 4 interceptions and 4 sacks en route to All-State honors. Check out Morrissey's film below.

Turning on the tape, two main attributes really stand out with Morrissey. The first that is evident is his football IQ. He seems to always be around the football, getting himself into the correct position whether it's in the run game or in his zone drops. One on play, he baits the quarterback into a throw, picks it off, and returns it for a touchdown. He understands angles, leveraging the football, and he times up his blitzes whether off the edge or through the gaps quite well. A player does not rack up all those tackles by accident.

The second attribute that really jumps out with this 2021 defender is his athleticism. He has striking ability, can cover in man or zone, and is quick-twitched with his movements blitzing. Morrissey will not have elite size for the college level and may not turn in a track-like 40 time, but his lateral movements are on point and he covers ground.

This is one of the state's top overall football players for the 2021 class.
